Hello, my name is Joshua Stembridge, thank you for taking the time to look at my profile and hopefully consider having me on your roster. The first thing I believe that you should know about me is what inspires me and drives my passion to be an athlete at the collegiate level. Ever since elementary school, I was in sports and athletic activities. My first major experience with athletics was Martial Arts, this taught me discipline and perseverance which I have applied to all aspects of my life. Football was my first taste of team sports it taught me how to act on and off the field and become a leader. Relationships with your coaches as well as your teammates are just as important and may even be more important than the work on the field. These experiences allowed me to excel not only on the volleyball court or on the football field but also in the classroom.
Outside of athletics, I am always trying to find something new that I can work at. There is never a point in time where I am not putting 110% into whatever I am doing. Growing up with a single parent has shown me that life never stops giving you challenges and while those challenges might put you down, time and time again, the key is never giving up and never die easy. The support I receive from my family is a major part of who I am as an athlete. My mom, specifically, has never missed a practice or game. She is always rewarding me for my successes but never lets them go to my head, reminding me that there is always something to work towards and ways to improve. I am grateful for how my family has made sacrifices so I can grow my passion for volleyball. I use their support for inspiration. I also pull inspiration from watching and studying some of the greatest athletes of all time such as Walter Payton, Michael Jordan, and a personal favorite Brian Dawkins. When I study these athletes, I try and take what they have done to be successful and carry it over to wherever this world takes me. I believe that all of this has driven me to value having an amazing work ethic. There is almost no time in the day where I am not exercising my brain in the classroom or exercising my body in the weight room.
I hope this has allowed you a little more insight into who I am as a person and I appreciate your consideration.
