Shawn Calle '21 Recruiting Profile

Thank you for visiting and taking your time to read what I am about to write to you. As we all make our way to adulthood I can not imagine the difficulty and adversities that arrive with it. I aspire to become a future civil engineer in hopes to pursue a career that ever since I started high school I have fallen in love with and never look back. I want to give back to all communities and as a civil engineer I will have the skill set to be able to physical make a change in lower end places looking for a chance of advancement. As an athlete I carry over all my morals I have during my studies that include perseverance, integrity, honesty, loyalty, and respect. A setter isn't only about knowing where the set will go or the next couple sets, its about how I will lead the team to our next point with my physical actions and leadership on the court. Playing volleyball since I was 13 I have built a strong foundation of the game which makes me a natural born leader on a court even if I may not know my team I will utilize my voice as my main source to gather a team and rally them up to the next point. Coming from a soccer background I offer something that most other candidates may not and its the ability to play with my feet and control over it. On numerous occasions have I been able to set a near impossible ball with the abilities and control that I have learned from soccer and continue play on the court as many other teams look in awe as they don't know how I may do such a thing. After many compliments of my foot skills it has become a vital portion of my game that you don't see very often in addition to my die heart ability to chase after any ball. I am a die heart fan of playing until the whistle is blown and I will chase and run over obstacles in desire of keeping that ball up as my work rate is higher than most and have been noticed by many other club and high school coaches when they verse our team. Being an athlete doesn't always mean we solely focus on sports as I am a top tier student with a 4.52 GPA with AP and Honors classes. I will strive until a problem is done and will never give up and pursue the best education that is possible for me as I know it will contribute to my future self. Thank you once again for reading!
