My name is Michael Harte I am a freshman attending Iona University, but looking to transfer to pursue my goal of playing for a competitive collegiate volleyball program (For 2023 fall, but looking into a 2023 spring transfer as well).
I have played volleyball for around 4 years now (4 years for my high school, St. John's prep and 3 years of club volleyball) and I absolutely love the sport. My favorite part of volleyball is working to see the fruition of your efforts. In the 4 years I have played I have grown so much as a player and as a person, it feels great to be able to look back where I started and see how far I've come.
As a player I pride myself on my versatility as I've played every position competitively aside from middle, however at the collegiate level I see myself fitting in as an outside hitter/libero. My strengths include my accurate platform, my angles and wrist control as a hitter and my game IQ.
This year I plan to make many strides as a player. I'm currently following a plyometric training routine and have seen results already in these first two or so months of the routine, I will be head coach of the boys 16s regional and assistant coach of the boys 16s premier team at my former volleyball club, Legacy VBC. I am also always getting volleyball reps in the gym about 4-5 times a week with the open gyms we run. We also plan to start a club volleyball team here at Iona which means proper competition and in game reps and are currently in the process of setting up scrimmages with other teams.
To get a good idea of the different aspects of my game check out the videos on my profile, some of them are from a while back they, but they give a good general idea of how I play.
I believe I am a player who can carve out a role and contribute to almost any team, and I am so motivated to find the right program for this next year/semester so if you are a coach, please reach out!
