When playing a sport for a majority of your life, you learn the game is more than just skill. It's also your relationships you've built with the team. When on a bigger team, players have the luxury of picking and choosing who and who not to talk to. Me on the other hand, I've never been on a team that exceeded 11 people. When you are in such a small group of kids, you not only learn a lot about other people, but you also learn about yourself as well. You learn your role on the team. My first ever team in eighth grade, I quickly realized my role as the team motivator. As captain it was my job to give advice and lead my team to victory (granted, I didn't know that much). As I got better and climbed the ranks all the way to varsity, my role on the team remained the same. I actually have the experience to assist me peers to get better, as well as myself. I always look out for my teammates, on and off the court. On all of the teams I've been on, I've always contributed my positive attitude and a consistent overall player. I would love to continue my journey in volleyball and spread positivity to my future team.
