As a junior in high school, I have played volleyball for a total of seven years. I first started in fifth grade when I would watch my dad play sand volleyball at our pool. I joined a YMCA rec team for my age group since there was no school team in my grade yet, but it was too slow for what I was looking for. Then I joined a middle school YMCA team and had more fun because of the higher pace. I was able to start playing club volleyball after that year, and started at Air City Volleyball Club in 6th grade here in Dayton. I had a lot of fun playing there with people a grade above me who I have become good friends. After two years, I changed club teams from Air City to Cincinnati Attack and have been there ever since. I have had a great time competing at a higher level. During my freshman year of high school I was able to make Varsity and start in practices. However, that was the year that Covid first hit so we were unable to complete, or even start, our season. My sophomore year I made Varsity, again, and we actually played the season. I started every game as a 5-1 setter, and we made it to the quarter finals of the Ohio state tournament. I had the privilege of being chosen for the 1st team All Conference and All Regional teams. I am looking forward to my future High School and Club seasons.
As hard as I try to be the best teammate that I can be, I also am trying to be the best student that I can be. I was accepted into the National Honors Society, and I am working hard to improve my academic abilities. In college I hope to pursue a degree in engineering and, as of right now, I would like to focus on either computer or mechanical engineering, but that is not set in stone.
What I hope to gain from college is a place that will help get me ready for my future. I would say that I am a team player as I try to make the rest of the team better, and try to better myself for the team. I give my all to the team and keep us ready for what's coming. After a loss, I try to cheer my teammates up and get us ready for the next game. I am looking forward to continuing my academic and athletic career in college.
