Dax Tompkins '19 Recruiting Profile

I have been playing volleyball for 5 years and although I am a 5 sport athlete and a 2 sport captain, volleyball is the game I am passionate about and also very good at. It has taught me how to dig deep inside myself to be strong and lift not only my energy, but also my teams energy to turn a losing game into a win.

Living in a small rural environment, with my father, it is difficult to find opportunities to play for high level clubs. To overcome this, I have made the commitment to travel great distances to play at the most competitive level I can. My collegiate goal is to combine a high level of education with a volleyball program at an elite and competitive level. In addition, I plan on earning a masters or a PHD that will enable me to get a career in education or sports psychology.

I have been told by several of my coaches, both volleyball and other sports, that one of my strengths along with my volleyball skills is that I am very coachable, which they say is very important as a player. I am also able to balance academics and athletics as well as my part time job which totals about 15+ hours a week as well as maintaining a good academic average.
