Hello! My name is Luke Galloway, and I am a Volleyball Athlete. I’ve been playing the sport since I was introduced to it in grade seven by my dad. At that moment, I fell in love with the sport. After two years of playing and training, I was invited to the Team Ontario Training Camp as an alternate player. However, I wasn’t going to let my status as an alternate player shut me down. After the end of that training week, I was listed as a starter for my training group. From that point on, I quickly realized that there was tremendous potential for me in volleyball, and that I could make something happen out of this opportunity.
I am now in my fifth season of club volleyball, and for the past three seasons, I have had the chance to compete against the best players that this province has to offer with Team Ontario Volleyball, most recently with the 2021 Team Ontario White Bubble. These opportunities have allowed me to vastly improve my skills, timing, and all other aspects of my game to a level that I never knew I was capable of.
My goals for post secondary are to compete at the highest level of volleyball possible while maintaining academic excellence, no matter what challenges or problems I need to face in order to achieve it. I’ve taken my physical strength and fitness to another level with a regular workout schedule, goal setting, and nutrition education. I have taken much more time to focus on the minute details of my play, reviewing all of the game, tournament, and practice film that I have in order to analyze my play and set goals for improvement. My parents and I also made a commitment to drive an hour and a half each way three times each week to my practices, which have been well worth my time. With all the time spent training I have grown and progressed more than I could have ever imagined, and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. Success with post secondary volleyball is something I have put my mind towards, and I will sacrifice more and work harder than anybody else around me to make that goal a reality.
