I am 19-year old, Honour Roll student from Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. I’ve been playing volleyball since I was 10 years old. Going into college, I have many dreams and aspirations that I would love to see come to fruition. Some of these goals involve studying animal sciences to one day be able to pursue my dream job as a wildlife biologist or veterinarian. Another goal of mine is to be able to have both my sport and school life work in harmony where I am still able to play the sport I love whilst also being able to study what I’ve always wanted to. Without sport, I find it hard to balance the rest of my life, because I can have something to look forward to, which encourages me to get everything else on my agenda done so I don’t stress about it.
Throughout my volleyball career, I have been the team captain numerous times, this is because I love to bring people together, where instead of ignoring each other’s differences I like to embrace them and see how it can help improve relationships rather than separate one another. There is no better feeling than being on a team with a group of people you may have never met before and having someone jump up and take the leadership role of bringing everyone together, I like to see myself as that person. I find that many teammates of mine in the past often get down on themselves mid-game if we appear to be losing, I see no point in accepting defeat before defeat has even been decided, so I always will try to bring everyone back up and encourage each other to fight till the last point.
If there’s one thing I definitively know how to do it is push myself, if I’m not happy with something in my life there’s nothing that will stop me from trying to change/improve it. This factor falls into all aspects of my life, and I’m happy with it, the drive for me to do better makes me attentive and strong-willed. This alone has been a major contributor to the growth of my athleticism, coordination, and education, in the sense that I’d see someone better than me and instead of getting upset over it I would see what they were doing differently than me, so I could actually learn from them. I have always been a naturally athletic person and catch on to new techniques very quickly, this is the same in my academics. I like to think that I have a strong personality, I am very opinionated on certain topics, and love a good debate because in the end I always end up learning something new and broadening my knowledge about the world. On the other hand, I am a very kind-hearted, genuine and honest person, that holds the value of friendship and leadership above many other things. I am a very empathetic person and really care about helping people, if I can bring joy to someone’s day no matter the circumstance then I believe that day was fulfilled. I really enjoy building relationships with people and learning from those around me. Thank you for looking at my profile and I hope I managed to catch your eye. -Adam
