Hi, my name is Cameron Long, I am currently a 10th grader at Legion Collegiate Academy located in Rock Hill, South Carolina. I am a very ambitious student-athlete. I do put my studies before my athletics, but since I am well versed, I do not find an issue handling my academics and athletics at the same time. Having a GPA of 4.464 was not easy to maintain. Volleyball has been my life for many years. To be exact, 7th grade was when I first started to participate in sports events dealing with volleyball. It started as a way that I bonded with my best friend, but it quickly became a passion of mine. I now play club at Carolina Union Volleyball Club located in Charlotte, North Carolina. I have been apart of this club for two years now. I have excelled tremendously when it comes to my position as a libero.
I have many goals and aspirations that I would like to accomplish in my collegiate life. Playing at a high collegiate level is my first goal. My second aspiration is to pursue a major in the field of study of either Interior Designing or Social Working. My third aspiration is to become a player whos playing time does not decrease, but only increases at the college that I decide to commit to. I am so thankful already for college coaches even taking the time to look at me.
Many aspects of myself make me different from other recruits in all three; character, athletics, and academics. Character is a big part of what I use as my self-image. I am a team player who lifts my teammates whenever they are down, and I always give high fives on the court because if there is one thing I learned from volleyball, it is that you can never give too many high fives. Not only am I a team player, but I am also a team leader as well. Many of my teammates look up to me and I take pride in that because I feel responsible for leading them to success along with me. Now, when it comes to athletics, I am different from other recruits because I am driven, motivated, confident, hard-working, and most of all I am a player who loves to listen to coaches feedback because I always want to better myself and not only grow mentally but physically as well when it comes to playing the great game of volleyball. Lastly, I am different from other recruits when it comes to academics because I am the only person I know who will go the extra mile to be academically successful and still doing athletics as well. Many athletes like putting their athletics before their academics, but that is not the case for me because academics come before it all. Also, having a 4.464 GPA is not easy when you are juggling athletics and I did it. I just want to take the time to say thank you for reading this far, my name is Cameron Long and this is my personal statement.
