Matthew Stith '21 Recruiting Profile

Hi, I'm Matthew Stith. I was first introduced to volleyball by watching my cousin play.  I was immediately drawn to the game and decided to give it a try . Being from Texas made that a difficult choice due to the fact that it is not a popular sport for boys in the state.  I played at the YMCA for two years before I found my new home at Houston Volleyball Academy (HVA). Volleyball has opened many doors for me. Not only has it made me stronger physically, but also mentally. Through volleyball I have learned the skills of persistence, perseverance, and most importantly leadership. Without these traits I would not have been able to maintain many of my accomplishments such as Student Council President and National Honor Society Vice President.  I am an outside hitter/setter for my club and I also have the honor of playing for the A1 Select National Team in 2018, and was also selected to play for the A1 Future Select Beach National Team in 2017 and the Select A1 Beach National Team in 2019 . I have maintained above a 4.0 GPA throughout my freshman and sophomore years and I intend to keep through the rest of my education.
