My name is Jarrett Lynch, and I currently reside in Perryton, Texas. I started playing volleyball in the summer of 2020 with Cougar Volleyball Beach, and continued to play club volleyball with Cougar Volleyball in Maple Ridge, Canada. Previous to this, I had played a variety of sports including baseball, basketball, obstacle course racing, soccer, and football. I currently run cross country and track, and I also play basketball at my high school. I was born in Texas, and after 9 years, our family moved to British Columbia, Canada. After living in Maple Ridge for 7 years, my family and I has moved back to Texas to a small town called Perryton. NOTE: I'm currently trying to find a club who is willing to allow me to play with them. There is no boys volleyball offered in Perryton, so I'm striving to find a club who will allow me to travel out to tournaments to compete with them and gather film. I will update my profile once I find a club who allows me to do this.
I continued playing sports in Canada, and this is where I fell in love with volleyball. Along with play for Cougar Volleyball, I was one of the starting outside hitters for Maple Ridge Christian School, where we finished 7th in provincials in the A division, which is the equivalent to finishing 7th in state for 1A schools. As for club, I started at outside hitter for 2 years, where at 15 and 16 years old, I was the captain of the 18u boys team. I've transitioned more into a defensive specialist/libero role, however if the opportunity provided itself, I would absolutely love to play outside hitter. With access to a facility, I was in there almost every day. I would practice with anyone willing to come, and even on my own, I lifted, worked on my serving and watched film to better my technique. I've fallen in love with volleyball, and I constantly want to practice and play the sport. Competing in Edmonton for the Volleyball Canada Youth Nationals was a special memory I will have for the rest of my life.
Ultimately, my goal as a volleyball player is to help any team I play with be competitive, to have camaraderie and genuine brotherhood among the team, and to simply enjoy playing the best sport in the world. Along with this, I am always looking to get better. I watch film and technique videos constantly on how to improve my game, and I consider myself extremely coach-able. I have many goals for university. First, I am striving to keep my grades as high as possible. I want to finish at the top of my class and earn academic scholarships mixed with both athletic and possibly music scholarships in order to pay most of, if not all of my post high school education. I've played piano for 6 years and I reached level 10 in the Royal Conservatory of Music in Canada, and while I no longer take lessons, I lead worship for my church and constantly practice, arrange and write music. Once in university, I would like to major in sports management/coaching, as my goal is to eventually become a volleyball coach. I may also major or minor in music. I like to remain open minded about my future as I have time to decide what I want to do. I know a few things-my faith, my family and friends, music and volleyball will always remain a part of my life.
One thing I would like to point out is the fact that I will have two years of being in grade 11, however, this was because of choice. I was given the choice to have another junior year or move on to my senior year. I had already completed Grade 11 in Canada, but because of the different age classifications between the U.S. and Canada, I chose to have another year in Grade 11. The gives me more time for volleyball recruitment, more time to study and take the ACT and SAT, and more time to settle into a new environment and build a name for myself for universities, both academically and with volleyball. Therefore, in my transcripts, there will be 2 different report cards for 11th Grade: one from Maple Ridge Christian School and one from Perryton High School.
If you find my profile intriguing or if you would like to know more about me as a person and as a player, feel free to reach out on NCSA or with the information provided. I grow more excited every day at the idea of continuing my volleyball career at a high level, and I know I would be an asset on and off the court for any team I am apart of. I'm thrilled to keep growing in the game I love, and I'm even more thrilled for the game to grow me.
Thank you!
