I discovered my passion for Water Polo 2 years ago. My Water Polo journey began when my swim team coach highly recommended me to join the high schools water polo team. As a competitive swimmer for 9 years I trusted my coaches judgment, as I had not been exposed to water polo in my community.
I began playing water polo my freshman year of high school. I was excited to play on the Varsity team my freshman year. As a freshman I excelled quickly and was placed on the starting rosters for the Varsity and the Junior Varsity teams. By my sophomore year I continued to play on both teams and was selected to be the team captain for the JV team. I loved playing as much as I could during both of these seasons. I have really enjoyed playing the sport and how it makes me feel when playing it. I feel that water polo pushes me to a higher level of athleticism each time I get into the pool. My water polo coaches have told me that I absorb the information given to me like a sponge. In all of my athletic experiences, Water Polo has brought me the most fulfillment athletically and personally. The more I play it the more I enjoy it.
If my teammates were to talk about how I am in the water or out of the water. They would say I am a very strong leader and a great role model. How I never back down from a challenge and how I look at not succeeding the first time as a learning opportunity that my team and I will have to overcome together. I will always choose my teams success over my own. Any challenge life gives me I make sure I will overcome it and achieve it.
I have been successful in balancing my academic and athletic responsibilities. I set my academic goals to be just as challenging as my athletic ones. I choose to take honors and AP courses to prepare myself for college. I know these rigorous courses will challenge me to grow academically and set me up for success at the collegiate level.
My goal is to attend a 4-year university/college and play at a high level of water polo. I would like to go to a school that will challenge me academically and athletically. I look forward to those challenges preparing me to be successful in life. I hope that whichever team I play for I will be able to make lifelong friends who would like us to succeed as a whole.
