Dear Prospective Coach,
Welcome, and thank you for checking out my profile. In this quick bio, I hope to give you a feel for who I am, where I’ve been, and where I’d like to go. I’m striving to be the best student-athlete that I can be, to further my water polo experience at the collegiate level while receiving a great education. I’m looking to learn more skills that will help me throughout my life, as water polo has already taught me the values of hard work, determination, strategic approach, and camaraderie.
In my youngest years of water polo I was a consistent b-team player, where I learned to maintain my spirit despite the obstacles my body presented and the virtues of humility. I think a person benefits equally from both wins and losses, and I’ve gained perspective from both. While “potential” has always been a word applied to me, it wasn’t until my genetics kicked in during high school that I began to emerge athletically and put my lessons to use. Raised on Rocky and Rudy, I worked hard, I made every practice, and I started to notice the teammates that I once looked up to were now looking up to me. I made it my goal to be a reliable and well rounded center, a thoughtful leader, and a loyal friend. Thanks to my size and strength, I’ve had opportunities to test myself in games and tournaments against players much older and more experienced than I am, and I feel as though I’m continuing to evolve and haven’t yet hit my peak. I truly believe in my potential, and that my best is to come.
I’ve had some great mentors on my journey, and I’m always adding more. Between playing with one of the highest level high school programs around, playing on a platinum level club team, and maintaining a good gpa at a very academic school, I’ve had exposure to men and women that have taught me a solid set of values. I feel I’m in a good position to find a college water polo program that I can contribute to while getting started toward a rewarding career.
Thank you for your consideration,
Otis McAdams
