Personal Statement

My name is Mac Jarvis and I am a 6'2" 170 lb goalie from Elk Grove, CA.  I began playing water polo the summer before my freshman year and have loved the game ever since.  I have recieved the coaches award, MVP, and all Conferance 1st team the last three consecutive years and do not plan on slowing my progress anytime soon.  In my desire for improvment I have been a part of a number of club teams the most notible of which would be West Sac Polo and ODP.  Although I may have an intense desire to improve physically I know the focus must begin with the classroom.  I carry an accumulative GPA of 3.43 but I intend to raise that score in the upcoming semester of my junior year.
I am always looking for ways to improve and learn not only from my coaches but fellow team mates as well.  I have played on a team for numerous other sports since I could walk and have never had a problem working with them to achieve a goal.  One of my greatest strengths is the abilty to motivate my other team mates as well as myself.  I refuse to be second best and will work to achieve a number one spot but I do poses the patience and humility to first learn under a higher classman. I feel as if my whole highschool career has been leading up to playing in college and I have set a standard for myself which I will continue to live up to regardless of any obstacles set in my way.
I would prefer to attend school in my home state of California but I am willing to leave everything I have become accustomed to in order to play for a school.  I highly believe that larger schools provide a larger opportunity to meet new people and succeed and I personally excell in such circumstances.  I believe I can compete at a DII level but I will never shy from a challenge.
I have many interests when it comes to scholastics but latley I have found myself being pulled more and more into the school of medicine.  Human Physiology fascinates me and I plan on going into a related major.
In the past I have set unrealistically high goals but as the time to chose a college approaches I realize I must think reasonably.  I wish to play for a school team with a positive attitude about it that will allow me to improve to the best of my abilities.  I am looking to play for a coach who believes that I can make a difference on the team and personally succeed.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
