I started playing water polo in 2017 when I joined East Side Water Polo Club and I immediately fell in love with the sport. I am excited to continue playing water polo in high school and to play in college. I aspire to be a scholar-athlete, who works hard both in the classroom and in the pool. I really enjoy my science, math, and engineering classes, and look forward to playing water polo at a college that values both excellent athletics and rigorous academics. I am confident that I will be able to contribute to my college team both in and out of the water. I deeply value being on a team that performs well together and that is committed to improving and achieving success.
In the last five years, I have consistently played on my water polo club team and I played on my high school team in the 2020-21 and 2021-22 school years. In 2020-21, we won our Frosh/Soph conference and I started every game we played, playing against a mix of Frosh/Soph and JV teams. In 2021-22, I played on our high school Varsity team, starting some games and in others was one of the first substitutes in the water. I also played on the USA Water Polo Midwest Region Olympic Development Program team in the 2019-20 and 2021-22 school years. My primary position is flat, which allows me to use my skills most effectively as I am able to pass well, drive in to set and shoot, and quickly drop back. I really enjoy playing aggressively on defense, making steals, blocking shots, and slowing down my opponents. I am versatile and can play multiple positions.
As a water polo player and a competitive swimmer, I have learned the importance of hard work and thoughtful, intentional practice; if you work hard to challenge yourself every day, you will continue to improve and get better. I look forward to continuing to be challenged and grow as a player.
