I have always loved team sports: I started playing basketball at age 4, however, while watching the London Olympics in 2012, I found a new passion: water polo. Since then, I have used the strong work ethic my parents instilled in me to increase my skills and abilities by challenging myself to improve at each and every practice and weight training session. I have always used my size (6’2” and 200 pounds) to my advantage, even when defending against older and bigger players. For both my freshman and sophomore years, I was the top scorer in Western Canada for the 16U age category and was recently named to the 17U National team that will be competing in Trinidad in August 2019. For the last four years, I have played with my own age group and the next older with a group of Team Saskatchewan athletes that has annually qualified for the Canadian National Championships - winning a bronze and two gold medals along the way. In the most recent gold medal final, I was the leading scorer in the game while playing up an age category.
Now, my main goal is to be able to play water polo while getting a college education. The school I attend could be D1, D2, D3 or Junior College; the size and location of the school are less important to me than having the chance to continue playing the sport I love. I know my experiences as both a leader on my own age-group teams or as a contributing role player when moving up an age group will serve me well on any team.
