My passion for softball began at a very young age. Both of my parents played softball which meant we were at the softball fields a lot. I began playing T-ball at the age of 5 and by 2015 I tried out for Arctic Storm 12u and made the team for the 2016 season. This would be my first year of competitive travel softball and that year we would go on to win the Alaska ASA 12u State Championship. After winning the state championship, I realized I want to play this sport for as long as I can, so I set my sights on becoming a collegiate student-athlete. The end of summer 2016 was fast approaching. I had team tryouts for Arctic Storm 14u so I had been working on my craft to improve my skill set. Tryouts came, and I gave it my all. That night I received the phone call from my coach that I had been waiting for all evening. However, the call didn’t go as planned, I got cut, I didn’t make the team. Of course, I was disappointed, but I did not let this define me, I used it as fuel. I signed up and went to the tryouts for AK Krush. After tryouts I learned I had made the team. This team, although still in the competitive league was a developmental team. So, for 2017, I was now a member of the AK Krush 14u home team. We took the year off from travel to work on developing our physical techniques as well as our mental abilities. We refined and, in some cases, rebuilt my skills in pitching, middle infield, outfield, and batting. We focused on footwork, soft but fast hands and mechanics of pitching as well as the swing. This has made me a better player and teammate and has mentally and physically prepared me for the 2018 season.
For the 2018 season, as a 14u eligible player, I will be playing up and competing with my teammates on the AK Krush 16u Wilson team. Being cut from my old team and using 2017 as a developmental year has taught me to be resilient and that I can overcome obstacles and still be the best version of me possible. I plan to graduate college with a Master’s Degree in either Veterinary Medicine or Psychology. My goal is to finish school with a 3.5 GPA or higher. I am a very driven individual that can be a leader if needed and will always be a teammate first. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to look at me and my profile.
