Derryel Medel '26 Recruiting Profile

I've been playing softball since I was 8, since then I've learned so much. I've grown to be a better person both mentally and physically, I've learned that if I fail, I can always learn from it and get back up. Over the years, I've gone through ups and downs, but those struggles have got me where I am today. I am willing to travel long distances  for a college that will support me not only on the field, but academically also. I am willing to learn any positions and do anything to help your school. Photography and Forensic Science have always interested me and I would  like to make those a focus for choosing my major. In school, good grades are always a high expectation for me because I expect the best out of myself and I know that I won't be able to do what I do when I can't pass my classes.  Softball has taught me so much, however playing other sports have helped tremendously. I've played soccer since I was 3 but I never loved it as much as softball. Balancing between softball and soccer for all these years has taught me my organization skills. I’ve learned how to manage my time and energy and when I started playing soccer both in and out of school, I was managing three sports at once plus my school work. However, I still managed to be eligible to play for my school and go to all of my practices for softball and soccer.
