Hi,
I am 17 years old and I attend Brookswood Secondary High School in Langley, British Columbia, Canada. From a very young age I couldn't wait to play softball. I played baseball with the boys at age four because I didn't want to wait until age six to play softball with the girls.
My approach to life has always been simply this, that "no' is not part of my vocabulary. I strive to do my best at everything that I do, academics, sports, art, simply being average has never held my interest. If I find something challenging I always find a way through it as I have the drive and the tenacity to get where I need to go. Challenging obstacles are just that, a puzzle that needs to be solved or a hill that needs to be conquered.
Academics are extremely important to me and I am consistently on the honour roll. This year in addition to being on the honour roll I was awarded the Ike Sinden Award an award that is given to one grade ten student that exemplifies character, community and leadership.
On the field I am a aggressive team player that likes to ensure that all players are in sync when it comes to knowing the next play. I will be the one that consistently helps to motivate the team and keep spirits high when others may be struggling with their game. I take direction well and will work extremely hard to get my craft (my game) to get it to it's maximum potential. My infectious spirit is just that, on and off the field.
It has always been my dream to play softball at a university level in the United States as there are a lot more opportunities south of the border for a softball player then here in Canada.
I am extremely passionate about this sport and look forward to continue to grow as a player and as a individual. I set goals personally as well as in sports so that I am able to measure my successes and reevaluate them continuously.
In addition to my games, practices, tournaments and my private coaching schedule, I worked during the summer training and developing younger fastball players with defensive training and pitching under the guidance of my coach. This has been a rewarding experience for me and one that has taught me to be patient and to encourage younger players to continue to work on their game.
I look forward to hearing from coaches that feel that I can contribute to their teams on-going success and can help me elevate my game as a player.
Thanks.
Taylyn Andreassen
