During the winter of 2021 at the age of 14 I witnessed my father's death by law-enforcement. This event put many of my childhood memories into perspective. My mother shielded myself and my brother from our father's history of mental health disorders. The day of this event my father was attempting to seek help as he recognized he needed inpatient treatment. However the world was in a pandemic and the people who were to protect and serve didn't support my father's cries for help. Prior to this event I was involved as a peer counselor in our High School's State recognized Wellness Center. I have always wanted to work in the mental health field and last year taking Forensic Chemistry has sparked my desire even more. The tools I have learned being a peer counselor I have applied on the field. The pressures of being an student athlete can be a lot at any level. I am able to balance both academics and sports at a high level and can recognize player burnout. I have a strong voice on the field and know what it take to be a good teammate. The combination of life experience, dedication to my studies and commitment to my sports, makes me a strong candidate for any college softball program.
