Softball to 7 year-old me was just about a few balls and a bat. But over the past 10 years, I've learned that softball isn't so much about the game as it's life. Softball has shown me how to work through adversity and hardship, it's the one thing that has gotten me through some hard moments in my life off the field. I love the game of softball and have set my goal to compete and play softball at the collegiate level.
My dream is to play college softball and earn my Masters degree in psychology, then go on to become a counselor for teens. I've dedicated so much of my life to softball, from all the summers and countless weekends I have spent playing tournaments, I realize how much I love playing the game of softball. Just as the game of softball has taught me to never give up, I will not give up on my personal dreams either.
I've been the starting second baseman for my high school team since my freshman year, and a starting middle infielder with the three travel ball teams I have played for. On each team, I had the opportunity to learn a new position, this taught me how to step outside my comfort zone. I feel that I have always been a very coach-able player, and if my Coach needed me to play somewhere I wasn't familiar with, I have always been willing to do what's best for my team.
I have worked hard my whole life to be a better person and student athlete, by challenging myself with AP and Honor classes, as noted on my transcript. I know what it's like to work through challenges, and the level of hard work it takes to get through hard times. But I also know what the reward feels like when you finally achieve the goals you set for yourself. I'm excited for the opportunity to play at the next level and will continue to strive towards achieving my goal.
