Hello my name is Soraya Valdez-Frick. I am currently a senior at Aragon High School. I have been playing softball since I was 3 years old and ever since I first stepped foot on the softball field, I automatically fell in love with the game! I absolutely love the game for many reasons but I will only name a few, 1. I've made tons of great friends through out the years, 2. I've traveled to many new states and have seen many new sceneries that I would not have seen without softball, and finally 3. I have had great coaching throughout the years which helped me grow as a player in many different ways. I had many struggles through my years of playing this game but with the help of my coaches pushing me and helping me face these struggles I became even better every time. I believe that softball has more failures than successes and when you learn from those failures and own up to them that's what makes you a great ball player. "If you succeed 3 times out of 10 that is great." Everyone has their own styles and beliefs but who needs that when you work hard, are self-motivated, eager to learn new skills everyday and open to change. But also a major thing is you learn from your failures more than you do your successes. If you go out there and do everything perfect, are you really challenging yourself?
This sport has taught me to become a leader and a team player, when someone is down I will be the one to pick them up and motivate them to work harder and motivate them self to be better than what they were yesterday. Softball has also taught me how to be patient with many people.
In two years I will graduate from High school and go to college to further my learning. I am hoping to get a degree in Criminal Justice or psychology. I am looking for a school that will help me prepare for a career that I can fall in love with as much as I did with softball.
