My name is Eve and I love softball. I love the game strategy and mental toughness required to be successful at it. It has taught me so much about life and myself. I know I’d be a good fit for a college softball program and a contributor to the team’s success because of my athleticism, work ethic and academic background.
Since I was 7 years old I played softball, soccer and basketball. Up until my freshman year I played soccer and softball competitively juggling practices, games and travel. I believe being a multi-sport athlete has made me a better softball player because of different skills I developed in those sports. I am a good baserunner because of running skills I developed in soccer, and playing varsity soccer in the spring kept me in shape, mentally grounded, and prepared to work hard and have fun with my summer softball travel team.
This past high school season I was leadoff batter with a .400 batting average and 16 stolen bases. My most memorable moment of the season came during the state playoffs when I hit my first homerun to help advance our team to the quarter finals where we lost to the team that won the State Championship.
My mom played softball for the University of Missouri and coached me until I was 14. Her influence is a big reason I love the sport and continue working hard to get to the next level with a goal of being a successful student-athlete.
I will be a proud graduate of D’Evelyn JR/SR High School class of 2021. D’Evelyn’s philosophy is that all students should be held to rigorous academic and behavioral standards. Our school consistently has the highest ACT/SAT scores in Colorado. We were ranked #1 in Colorado and #42 in the country by U.S. News and World Report for our academics. Attending such a demanding school, while playing varsity and club sports, has taught me important time management, leadership, communication, and study skills that have prepared me well for the challenge of being a college student-athlete.
I am excited for the future and the opportunity to reach my potential as both a student and athlete and the career possibilities that await me after college.
Thank you for taking the time to read my personal statement!
