My name is Makenzie Johnson and I’m from Beecher, Illinois. I have a passion for softball and have been playing softball since I was 8 years old. I live with my parents, 3 sisters, and our dog Paisley. All of the members of my family either play sports, or previously played. My mother still coaches softball, and my father still coaches basketball and softball.
I started playing travel softball when I was ten. At that time, my rec coach and travel ball coach recognized my speed and they started training me as a slapper. Now I am a strong left handed hitter and a slapper with many tools.
I am an extremely competitive person and I thrive off of high level competition. For every team I have played for, I have always been leadoff batter and I love the challenge of being the first person to face the pitcher. I understand what it means to have to earn your spot and I constantly give 100% effort in practices and games.
In looking at college softball teams, I look for a team that wants to work just as hard as I want to work. As a girl from Illinois, it may seem difficult to get noticed by the colleges that I am interested in. I’m willing to take the time that you need to get to know me. I am happy to send you video, or come down to meet you and play for you so you can get to know me.
As for my life outside of softball, I am multi sport athlete. I play basketball and volleyball. I attend Beecher High School which is a Public school in Illinois. At Beecher, I earned very good grades and last semester, I made a high honor roll while also competing on the Math Team. I love to analyze statistics, workout, and get into groups and have a girls night. Me and my family also like to spend quality time together whether it’s playing a board game or just driving somewhere for softball.
