My name is Kaylen Grammer, I live in De Soto, Illinois and go to Carbondale Community High School in Carbondale, Illinois. When I think of my goals for college I think of getting the best education that will lead me to the most successful life I can have, while also playing the game I love for 4 more years. Student comes before athlete so one of my main goals is to keep the grades up and be the best student I can be for my team. So far I've done pretty good academically. I was valedictorian of my 8th grade class and made honor roll my freshman year while taking advanced classes and getting into honors classes for freshman year. I go by the saying "there is no I in team." I'm there for whatever the team needs, you want me to play a completely different position? You got it. You want me to be a pinch runner? You got it. The game is supposed to be fun but you also need to get serious at the right time. I believe I know when to flip the switch when needed. What makes me different from other recruits? I'm always positive or smiling. When you have a good attitude, it's contagious and it can really help a team win ballgames. I'm willing to put in the work you want me too. I want to get better everyday. I want to be able to play every position so that means I have to work even harder. Academics is most important to me. If I didn't have the grades, I wouldn't be able to play softball, or any of the sports I love. I've always wanted to have the best GPA in my class. I like seeing the good grades on my report card when most people don't care if they get a B or C.
Thank you for your time and I hope you will consider me as a possible candidate!
