Joharis Figueroa '21 Recruiting Profile

My name is Joharis M. Figueroa Figueroa, from the great Island of Puerto Rico. I am not your ordinary woman who most applicants paint themselves to be. I have my flaws, but I feel as if my dedication is my greatest attribute and the most notable one.  At the age of 6, I was hit in the face while playing tee-ball and many people, including my parents, questioned me on continuing to play but me, being tough and resolute, I preserved and have become the great person and player I am today.

My life is not only lived on the field, but also with my family. I have a strong bond with my family, as we all have each other’s back no matter what. My parents are the most influential people in my life, they are the fuel to my fire. I go to school and study hard every day for them. They are the reason why I strive for the best, never give up, and have earned a 5.05 GPA. School for me isn't only for academic advances, it's also a place where I can participate in extracurricular activities. At my high school, I am currently in the National Art Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, and the prestigious Student Ambassadors. I plan to join more clubs and be admitted to more Honor Societies in my remaining years in high school.

As I enter my Junior year and the search for my future college approaches, I want to keep in mind to attend a college where I learn from others and I’m competing against others both in the classroom and on the field. I am open to any college that will keep pushing me and makes me a better player and person every day.
