Walt Whitman once said, "Keep your face always towards the sunshine- and the shadows will fall behind you". I have always kept this quote with me when I am dealing with bad or even good situations that occur throughout my life. I have been known to be a positive person due to the fact that there is so much negativity in this world; I will admit I have had my moments where I do think negative, but I try my hardest to think about the situation and bring myself back. It is very important for me to have a positive state of mind because it helps me stay out of countless unnecessary situations in my life, and it prevents me from putting myself and others down.
It has been difficult for me to help my mother to think positively because of the fact that I have never seen that side of her. I tried helping my mother with a lot of things, but I have mainly kept her thinking positive after she had surgery. She was getting depressed because she was not able to move around as much as she used to. I helped my family stay positive when my grandma was in the hospital. They did not believe she was going to make it, and I kept and currently am keeping my sister-in-law positive. I kept her from feeling low due to everything that is going on with this pandemic. She received some bad news and I do not want anything bad to happen to
her or the baby. According to Buffer's statistics, negative people have less positive words to say, which shows that they are making other people think negatively,
Throughout my life, I have been known to be a really positive person and this was shown when I helped my mother with a lot of things, especially when I kept her positive after she had surgery. She was getting depressed because she wasn't able to move around as much as she used to. In other words, I would constantly tell my mother to not give up and that better days are yet to come, and that she had a lot of people there for her when she thought that she had no one and felt like she was worthless. In order to be there for my mother, I had to do things she could not do like: do her laundry, get things that are needed for the house, cook food for my family, and keep her comfortable. As well as keeping her moving and positive at all times because I care very much for my mother. I am certain my act will ensure her to focus on being positive and develop the outcome of feeling better. That is what people do for those they care about and love. I had to make sure that my mother did not feel worthless but rather optimistic. Since I am a positive person I have more positive words to say and I show my mother that and lifting her up and helping her avoid becoming a negative person.
There was a point in time when my grandma was really sick that we all thought she was not going to make it. My grandma was diagnosed with pre-leukemia in 2010 and has been getting blood transfusion ever since. My grandma traveled to Mexico and did not take care of herself before traveling so she was in a severe condition. I told myself “ I can't cry, I can't show this type of weakness.” I felt like I needed to keep my head up and uplift my family because they were losing hope and were giving up on her. Since my family was losing faith in my grandmother’s health, I had to implement different positive outcomes to aid my family through
this tough situation. I had to communicate with them how we needed to all stay strong for her and pray for her recovery. Due to the fact that my grandma was not in the US at the time, it made it more difficult to help her. We all Facetimed and talked to each other to give ideas so that therefore we would not panic.
According to health grades statistics, about 63 out of 100 people with Leukemia are likely to live at least five years after being diagnosed. These statistics instilled hope in my heart because my grandma's survival rate is a high 62.7%. The fact that the percentage is more than 50% inspires more positivity in my grandma's predicament and gives us more hope that she will survive because she is a strong woman who has overcome many obstacles in the past. Dealing with my mother's depression and my grandmother's illness, reinforced my positive outlook on life. My sister-in-law was negatively impacted by the CoronaVirus. The fact that she is pregnant created a deep concern for herself and the baby, and she had to deal with a loss within her family. With my abilities, I influenced my sister-in-law to focus on the brighter side of things. In other words, I helped my sister-in-law not think negatively and keep her distracted from thinking about all the bad news that she has received. In order to ensure the health of my sister-in-law and the baby's well being, I distracted her by focusing on the baby's development and preparing for the arrival of a healthy and beautiful baby. We did yoga at home, watched movies, and baked cookies for her cravings. Since I helped my sister-in-law when she needed someone, this cultivates her and other people to be more positive in their lives because there is too much negativity going on, so having positivity is well needed in these times.
In conclusion, I have performed several acts that illuminate that I am an optimistic person. In other words, I am a positive person by helping my family and others, when they need
someone to lift them up and keep them thinking positively in hard situations. This will help me in the future so that I can enjoy my college classes and have a good time with my classmates and teachers. This will also help me when I get a job so that I would be able to work well with others. By admitting me, your institution will be gaining an extremely positive student, who knows that embarking on such an endeavor requires someone with this exact quality.
