2024 Highlights Personal Statement
Hello from west-central Illinois! I have been playing A-level, travel softball for six years, but originally started out in small town youth league at the age of eight because my dad was an avid baseball player himself, and he wanted to instill the love of the game in me. I remember putting in a lot of time with him in the yard working on the fundamentals, but simultaneously he always pushed for, and ingrained in me, that "the little things are what's important", as that will be what separates the good players from the great ones! I have carried that with me every time I step foot on the field or the court, in the classroom, or throughout my walk of life.
I have never had a loud, outgoing personality, but I know from being a three-sport athlete that leading through positive role-modeling goes a long way towards the success of the team, and towards my success beyond the softball field. My sights are set on becoming a radiologist someday, and I have found that there's no better way to prepare for the future than to experience the "whole" part of a team--not just the wins, successes, and happy times, but the losses, long hours, and shortcomings, as they are what develop character to persevere.
