Hi, my name is Emma Carney and I am a 2024 graduate attending Carmel Catholic High School in Illinois. I am 5-foot-7, 145 pounds and am a right-handed power hitter. My primary position is Catcher. The secondary positions I play most consistently are 3rd base, SS and Outfield. My coaches lean towards those roles because of my athleticism, arm strength, speed and agility. I am a multi-sport athlete and have competed in basketball and volleyball (including club), however softball is my passion. I am ranked #23 overall by Showtime Sports, receiving 5 individual awards for the #1 standing in catcher pop time, throwing velocity, home 2 home running time, best catcher overhand velocity and best time to contact. I also received All-Academic Team Honors (2022-23 High School season) and was selected by Triple Crown to compete in the 2023 Colorado 4th of July All-Academic Showcase. I have represented the Great Lakes region as an All-American for 3 consecutive years and most recently was selected to compete in USA Softball’s National Team selection program. These experiences have allowed me to further test my skills as a softball player through rigorous competitions, drills and evaluations amongst other elite athletes across the country.
Since I began playing softball, one of my primary goals has been to play at the Collegiate level. I believe that my greatest strengths as an athlete is my versatility, knowledge of the game and team-first attitude. When I am not attending practices and competing, I am engaged in strength & conditioning training 2x per week, private hitting and position training lessons 2-3x per week. Off the field, I am very focused on my education and community involvement. I am a recipient of the National Honor Society award for academic excellence, leadership and volunteerism. I am a member of the Student Council and have been appointed to the Student Council leadership team. Carmel Catholic High School is a selective enrollment school with high distinctions of educational excellence and a 5x recipient of the National Blue Ribbon Award. My curriculum at Carmel is a combination of honors/AP courses where I am continuously challenged to learn and develop as a student. I have a cumulative GPA of 4.20, an ACT composite score of 32, and a combined SAT score of 1300. I intend to major in Biology/Health Sciences where I can pursue a career in Medicine. I enjoy volunteering and finding ways to give back to my community and have been involved in various initiatives, such as “Feed my Starving Children”, “Fem in Stem” and local food/blood drives.
Thank you so much for taking the time to learn more about me. I am excited to take the next step in learning more about you and your program.
