Hello! My name is Maliyah Koster and I am a utility player for my summer team Salina Nemesis and my high school Salina South. My first two varsity seasons I played at Smoky Valley High School where I played primarily SS and 3B/OF as secondary positions. As a freshman, I earned CKL 2nd team utility and sophomore year I earned CKL honorable mention shortstop. In May of 2022 I tore my ACL and meniscus which put me out for that travel ball season. I transferred to Salina South High School for my junior year and had my ACL re-construction surgery that August. After just 6 months of rehab I was ready to play my junior season. My first year playing at South we made it to the 5A State tournament and placed 4th overall. During the season I played 2B, SS, and 3B earning AVCTL division 1 second team utility and also honorable mention for Sports in Kansas All-State.
I've always loved the game of softball and during my recovery being away from the game made me appreciate it more than I ever have before. As I've grown as a player and person, softball is no longer just a game, it has grown to be much more than that for me and playing at the next level would be something I would forever be grateful for.
