What I enjoy most about softball is the head-to-head battle between the pitcher and the batter. Being a pitcher, I am able to experience this excitement with each game that I play. I love being challenged by the batter that fouls off one of my pitches to stay alive. I love when a well thrown junk pitch gets the batter and sends them back to the bench. As a batter, I experience the thrill of the battle from that perspective as well. One of my most exciting moments as a batter happened this past season in a game where our team was down. I was up at the plate and had a twelve pitch at bat before I got on base - I won that duel. While I experienced the satisfaction in winning that battle, getting on base, and helping my team, I also knew what that did to the opponents pitcher, who had to expend all of that extra energy only to come out on the losing end of that battle.
While softball is a huge part of who I am and something that I am extremely passionate about, academics have also played a huge role in shaping who I am and who I want to be. In my current sophomore academic year, all of my classes are AP and honors and I particularly enjoy those classes that are part of a STEM curriculum - specifically science and math. I am looking to attend a college that can help me continue to play the sport that I am passionate about while achieving all of my academic goals.
