Hello, my name is Melaina Heaton but, most people call me Mel. I first started sports at the age of 7 when I started playing basketball until I was 13. However, my team split up and watching my older sister play softball got me thinking to try it out. Of course I was nowhere near the skill level I needed to be at when I started but with the coach that saw my potential and with a lot of hard work and motivation I went from being a bench warmer on a B team to starting on an A team.
My goal is to go to college on a softball scholarship so I can help decrease the financial burden on my family. Yet, my overall goal is to get my bachelors in science so I can become a physical therapist. I would like to become a physical therapist because I like to help people and encourage them to do what they need to do to get better. I understand that this will be a challenge and a lot of work but I am willing to put in all the work that is needed to become who and what I want to become.
