My name is Alexis Baskins. I am very interest in a university and its Softball Program that allows me the opportunity to study in the medical/nursing field. I want to work with pediatrics medicine. I desire to enter the medical profession because I would get to help people who are hurting not only physically but with all the emotions that they are feeling at that time. I am the versatile player that can help you and your team at multiple positions while adding an element of speed to the team.
I love to run the bases, and most consider me to be very fast. I can lay down a bunt or have a great hit when I come up to bat. I am a middle infield and outfield position player. My primary position is to play 2nd base; however, because of my speed and flexibility I have been also playing several outfield positions. I can get from home to 1st base in 2.94 sec and home to home in 10.84 sec. I can outrun a bunt, get around the bases on a hit or successfully pinch run for another teammate. During my Junior year of high school, I had 31 stolen bases, batted .338 and had 24 runs scored(that tied the team lead).
I am a multi-sport athlete, softball and track. In track, I run in the 4x1, 4x2, 4x4, 100-meter and 200-meter dash. I also was competitive gymnastics for 7 years. Being part of all these sports has created me into not only a great athlete, but a great teammate and person. I have the following skills: goal setting, commitment, self-confidence/discipline, teamwork, respect, time management, health/wellness awareness, mental toughness, work ethic, how to accept feedback and make corrections and not to give up.
I know I can make a positive impact to the team and university.
