Personal Statement

I play softball for the rush I get while making a diving catch no one expects.  The opposing team's bench going silent after the rally has ended.  The thrill of looking up through a cloud of dust, to see an umpire throw his clenched fist into the air after a crisp "tag and sell" at second base.  Stepping up to the plate in the last inning, runners in scoring position...down two; nervous for a second....taking a deep breath....then pure confidence, knowing I  have done this many times before.....time to spoil it.  And although softball is a game of failures and successes, it's these moments  that make the failures seem more like motivation as opposed to disappointments.  When failure occurs, there is an inner voice that says "learn from it, this play will happen again," and next time I will be on the other side for sure.

Softball has taught me many things that I subconsciously carry with me on a daily basis.  It has built my character and molded me into someone who strives for excellence in the classroom and between the lines.  It has taught me to lead by example, carry myself in a respectable manner, and keep a positive mindset even when things don't go according to plan.  These characteristics will follow me for the rest of my life and will play a role in everything I do.  In college I wish to keep building on the foundation softball has laid for me.  I would like to continue my softball career at the collegiate level.  I have worked my way onto every lineup, of every team for which I have played, and I expect to do the same at the next level.  Set goals, practice when no one is looking, and win on every play...those are my mottos and I hope to bring them to your school and team.  I thank you for your consideration.  I look forward to meeting you, learning more about your school, and determining if I would be a good fit for your program.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
