Personal Statement

I have been playing softball since I was six years old.  While I have played other sports such as lacrosse and field hockey, softball is the one I am most passionate about.  The feeling I get when I take the softball field is indescribable.  I dream about what it would be like representing a college team or the US Olympic Team and it gives me chills.

When I am playing softball, I wear my emotions on my sleeve.  I may not be the most vocal leader on the team but I am constantly cheering my teammates and myself on no matter if we are ahead or behind.  I am always thinking of ways to improve my play as I believe I can always learn something. I have been told I am a very coachable player and I am constantly driven to succeed by working hard on the diamond.

Being driven to succeed doesn't just lend itself to the ball field.  That same driven desire has helped me succeed in the classroom and music room as well.  I strive to do well in all my classes and extracurricular activities.  I have achieved success as a musician playing clarinet and have been First Chair Clarinet at both the Middle School and High School level, I was named to the All County Music performers (NY) as well as scoring high on NYSMA for five consecutive years .  As a member of the Girl Scouts of America, I have been a top cookie selling performer and have raised funds to ship Girl Scout cookies overseas for the US Troops and have performed numerous hours of community service.

Lastly, I am looking forward to joining a college that will not only push me as an athlete and challenge me as a student, but one that will help mold me into a well rounded individual for my after college life.

On 2/25/2019, I committed to Suffolk University in Boston, MA

These sessions are expected to fill quickly. Our goal for a player-to-coach ratio is 6:1 but will not exceed 8:1. ALL PLAYERS WILL RECEIVE Instruction from all coaches attending the event. Opportunities to ask questions about their skills and get to know the college coaches. One-on-one and small group instruction. An open discussion about the NCAA recruiting process, rules, and regulations (parents are encouraged to either stay or come back for this segment. Questions are encouraged as to help answer questions and bust myths about the recruiting process). All campers will receive a Division I quality, moisture wicking men's t-shirt at check-in to wear during camp and take home. EVALUATION Each player will receive verbal feedback from the different levels of college softball represented at the camp. Coaches will evaluate each player based on their experiences at their level of college softball and give feedback when appropriate. This will allow each participating softball player the opportunity to get a much clearer idea of where their skills may fit at the college level. Because we want full interaction between coaches and players we do not provide written evaluations. We ask our staff to be fully engaged in the teaching and evaluating process and not be lost in a form. For this reason, we highly encourage players to ask questions of the staff and obtain any and all information they would like to know. The evaluation is designed to be informative but not restrictive. Each Junior Day Regional can differ slightly when it comes to the feedback given but generally speaking players will be evaluated in areas of the game such as: arm speed (velocity), ball exit speed off of bat, home to first base, and throwing accuracy. Players will also be instructed in improving the skills areas that they are having evaluated. Through dialogue with the coach’s players will be provided with information that they can use to compare and contrast where they stand with current college softball players. WHY IS IT A CAMP AND A SHOWCASE? Well, because it's the best of both worlds. Players want to showcase their skills to coaches but they should also want to learn from the coaches. Coaches want to evaluate players and their skills so they can teach them appropriately, just like they do with their own players. Coaches also want to see how players react to new instruction, new techniques and how they socialize with peers and other coaches. THE COLLEGE COACHES AT JUNIOR DAY ARE ON THE FIELD ALL DAY JUST LIKE THEY ARE FOR THEIR OWN PRACTICES & GAMES DISCUSSION ON COLLEGE ATHLETICS The College Athletics Education Seminar will be held during camp and is for all members of the family. The seminar will last approximately a 45-60 minutes. The discussion will cover topics like: The NCAA Recruiting Rules, How to Promote Yourself, What Coaches Look For, The Best Way to Make a Video, What to Expect Playing College Athletics and How to Talk to College Coaches. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and will come out of the event having a much better idea of What College Athletics is All About. Parents and players are encouraged to ask questions during the discussion. NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
