My name is Samantha Stallone, I am from Carmel NY. I attend George Fisher Middle School, and in September 2019, I will attend Carmel High School. In the past, I have played for the Empire State Huskies and the Hudson Valley Panthers. Currently, I play for the Hudson Valley Raptors, and the Carmel High School Varsity softball team. On and off the field, I am very dedicated to everything I do, especially softball and my academics. I am very aware of my surroundings, and I pick up on details whether it is on or off the field. I always use my voice on the field, and make sure I call plays, so my teammates and I are prepared for the upcoming play.
I am a utility player, but my main position is 3rd base. On my tournament team, I bat 4th in the lineup and play shortstop and 3rd base. I’m always willing to improve the mechanics of my swing and the way I field the ball. I focus on the way I am fielding and batting each and every practice and try to learn new mechanics of fielding and batting from my teammates and coaches each day. If there’s ever a time I need to fix what I am doing, I try my best to fix it.
One very important characteristic of the game is having a good attitude with your teammates and coaches. On and off the field, I do my best to maintain a positive attitude. If my teammates are ever doing something that they might need to fix, then I will give them the accurate feedback they need, making sure to encourage them and keep their confidence high. When my team is struggling in a game, I try my best to stay cheering and always keep a positive attitude. I take criticism very well, which is very important if I am going to succeed at higher levels, both on the field and in the classroom.
Balancing my athletics and academics is a huge part of life. So far, I have been very well at balancing school and athletics. I always make sure that I finish my homework and get my studying done before I go to practice. I plan ahead and keep my schedule very organized, allowing me to be as productive and effective as possible. Softball plays a huge part of my life, but without my academics, I know that there is little chance I make an impact on those around me in a college setting and in life. Therefore, I make sure my academics come before softball, while still focusing a lot of my time practicing and learning new ways to improve my athleticism and knowledge of the game. I am a very dedicated student that is always willing to put in extra work so I earn the best grades that I am capable of earning. This is similar to my performance on the field, where I put in the extra work in the batting cages and fielding ground balls in order to get the best results on the field for my team.
Softball is the sport that I love playing, and that I look forward to playing this sport for the rest of my life. Softball offers me amazing opportunities in life and always keeps me dedicated to everything I do. Ever since I was a little girl, I looked forward to playing softball in college, and graduating top in my class. I always give 100% when I am playing softball, whether I am practicing or playing in a game because even just hitting off of a tee can have a huge impact on what you do in the game. After my college career, I hope to keep on playing softball and teach kids, just like me, how to play the amazing sport that it is. I appreciate the time that recruiters and scouts take to know me as a person, on and off of the field.
