Hi, my name is Cecil Velez and I’m a 2025 catcher/utility player.I am from Granville Ny,but I play travel out of the Syracuse area.I have played softball since I was 7 years old ,but I did not begin taking it seriously till about 14.I have now played travel softball for 3 years and I am hoping to play softball at the collegiate level as I absolutely love the sport.I have academically excelled in all my high school years and have a 96 over all average converting into a 4.0 gpa.
I am both academically and athletically driven making both school and sports my top priority.Being top 3 in my class and being accelerated a year in math,Science and Spanish. In school I am involved with national honor Society, student council, select choir, math league, Spanish club, and drama club.I have earned many academic awards including high honor roll through all my years of high school and the presidents award.
For high school sports my softball career has not been too impressive as I went to a small D school where the league was not competitive at all.I was on the varsity team since 9th grade and I was a starter. My first year I was the starting third base men and that year we did not get too far.My second year I was the starting catcher and we had an over all record of 14-5 ,winning our league, and sadly getting eliminated the second round of sectionals. That was my sophomore year and I led the team in RBIs and was frontier league all star.
My goal is to go to a university and get my degree in forensic science. Many schools do not offer this as a major so I am ok with going to a school that only has it as a minor.I am aiming high for my school though as I believe I have the grades to get into a prestigious school.
