As someone who has played sports all of my life, I can confidently say that without discipline I would not be able to be a better athlete everyday. I have played many sports I’ve gone from playing 3 sports to 2 sports, and finally 1 sport. Ever since I hit my first softball and caught with my first ever mitt, I knew that this would be the game that changed my life forever. Softball keeps my heart beating and my blood flowing, and gives me the mental challenges that the average teenage girl would not be able to figure out if they did not have the discipline that sports gives you.
I have a ridiculous backhand grab at the hot corner(3B). I am completely confident at almost every at-bat because of my undeniable power. I might not be the standard body type but I never let that stop me. I have quick reflexes and a magnificent IQ for the game. Softball is the game that I play, but the powerful women in my family are who I play for.
I took the fall season off but I did not stop getting in continuous reps to better my skills. Throughout the fall season, I took batting and fielding lessons 2 times a week and went to the baseball fields in my neighborhood on Sundays to try and get my hits closer and closer over the fence. When I am given a challenge I am determined to overcome it and learn through trial and error. When I am given a problem I am determined to solve it no matter how long it takes. My biggest accomplishment this year was making Long Island Rage Fastpitch. They have helped me grow my skills throughout the winter and my coaches have been my biggest supporters in helping me get to the collegiate level.
In the classroom, I study day in and day out for every test and lab given. I might not excel in everything but I do make it my business to maintain a high GPA. School is important to me because it is the stepping stone that teaches me how to grow, learn, and study in different ways. I want to go to a college where I can put my abilities to the test. I would love to study adolescence education in history. I aspire to play at the collegiate level in any division as long as I know that I can make a difference in the game. I am excited about what is next to come and want to make sure that I make my family and community proud.
