My name is Madelyn Funk, and I am currently a junior at Moravia High School, in Moravia, New York. Coming from a small town and school in upstate New York, I have always been involved in lots of things in the community. I play multiple sports at my high school, but the one that has always been my favorite and one I most look forward to is softball. I started when I was in fourth grade, and fell in love instantly. It is the season I most look forward to, and it astonishes me that I only have two years left in high school. That is why I would love to continue my passion and love for this game at the collegiate level. In college I plan to major in either biology or chemistry, on the path to becoming a radiologist. I fully understand that academics are the most important element to the college experience, but I would like the most memorable part to be being a part of the family that a softball team really becomes. I believe playing softball at the collegiate level will not only leave lasting memories, but impact my life in the elements of character, teamwork and responsibility. I am aware of the responsibilities that will be placed on me if I commit to play, but I am confident that I am capable of handling everything they entail. I have always been a leader on my Varsity team at my high school, which I have been on since I was in eighth grade. Playing softball has brought me to meet so many amazing coaches and players who have been my motivation and inspiration to get better everyday. I am always willing to get better and do everything I can to improve my game. It has been a dream of mine to continue getting better and to carry on with my passion for this sport at the collegiate level. I plan to work as hard as I can in these next two years before college to become a better player, in hopes to play at the next level.
Thank you for your time.
