My name is Kelly Mayette and I am a junior at Scotia-Glenville High School. I am currently undecided with my major but I am strongly considering studying business. I am a very organized and dedicated student-athlete who works hard both in the classroom and on the field. I am a leader on and off the field. I am the president of my class, treasurer for FBLA(Future Business Leaders of America), I participate in GIVE(Governor's Initiative for Volunteer Excellence), I am a representative for band and I have helped to start up a basketball team for students with intellectual disabilities. This Spring, I was elected as Senior Class President for 2018-19, president of National Honor Society, and the Vice President for Tri-M Music Honor Society. My leadership skills and hard work ethic have allowed me the opportunity to attend Athletic Leadership Summits as the Junior Class female representative. Softball is a large part of my life and has offered many opportunities that have helped to characterize the person I am today. My sister who recently graduated from Stonehill College in Easton, Massachusetts and was a pitcher on the softball team is one of my biggest supporters and has helped to influence my softball career. She pushes me to my limits and always critiques me so I can become the best player of my abilities. My ultimate goal is to play softball at the next level and I am willing to put in whatever effort it takes to become the best player and teammate I am capable of being. I truly believe that teamwork is half the battle and I always treat my teammates like family because at the end of the day they’re the ones who have my back both on and off the field. Over the past 12 years, softball has shown me that it is a sport of life-long bonds, teamwork, and dedication. I always push to be the best student I can be in the classroom. For example, I am currently taking both honors and AP courses to challenge myself. On the field I am a starting player for my varsity school team and a starter on an elite travel team. My statistical profile is very respectable but I am always looking to improve my performance. I am excited to see how my dedication and motivation pays off both academically and with softball in the future.
