Personal Statement

Hi! My name is Savanna Born, and I am a freshman at SUNY Binghamton, New York. Some goals I have for college are not only to exceed academically, but also athletically. I have been an athlete since I was 4, which started with soccer. A few years later, I picked up basketball. Then, in 2018, I started softball for the first time. I have been described as an "Aggressive Baserunner" and an "Exceptional Catcher" by many coaches. I believe I would be a good fit for a collegiate team because not only do I have experience in both JV and Varsity action, but I strive to be a leader. I attend every optional practice or open gym that I can, I work with young kids during season and help upcoming catchers get their basics down while making it fun, and I boost their confidence and help them bond more with their pitchers. I have been told that I am a “very coachable athlete”, and I will strive to do my very best whether that be catching, batting, utility, and even the bench. I aim to keep our energy high on the field and encourage everyone. I excel in my academics as I have not only gotten accepted into both Junior National Honors society and National Honors Society, but I am graduating two years earlier than planned and will be graduating with an advanced regents diploma. I have a cumulative GPA of roughly a 95, and have been on the principals list for my 3 years of high school. This past spring season, my softball team won the Conference Championship, and after not having a varsity team last year, it was an incredible come back story. It was amazing to share this accomplishment with my team and put a banner that will hang forever in our school's gym. I am a well-rounded athlete, whose passion is softball. I recently won the Army Scholar Athlete award which was an amazing honor. I am now at SUNY Binghamton to stay for the rest of my bachelors degree, but I will have to attend med school!

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
