My name is Logan Zephir, graduating senior and softball player at Uwharrie Charter Academy and upcoming collegiate freshman.
I have been a member of the Uwharrie Charter Academy softball team for the last four (4) years. During that time, I have been a starting pitcher for the squad, and when not pitching the team’s first baseman. The team just finished its season falling in the fourth round of the 1A North Carolina State playoffs. The 2023 season was a successful season for the team, which is what is the most important outcome for me. Personally, I finished the season with a batting average of .340, second on the team in triples, second on the team in doubles and RBIs. On the defensive side of the ball, I finished the season 8-3 as a pitcher and .964 fielding percentage.
While I am a pitcher primarily, I can play and have played every position, other than catcher. When I am not playing at the pitcher position I have typically been used as first baseman, third baseman, or outfielder. As a pitcher, I am a consistent high 50’s fastball pitcher, with a very good change-up, and command of a curveball (both inside and out). My rise-ball and drop-ball are effective, and I am continuing to work on more consistency with both of those pitches. Offensively, I am a right-handed hitter that can hit for power or lay down a bunt when needed. Over the last year I have been working with my coaches and trainers on hitting from the left, which I have been able to use in a few games with some success.
From an education perspective, I graduated from Uwharrie Charter Academy with a 4.07 GPA. My intentions are to study biology in college.
The purpose of this communication is not to seek any financial support from the softball program, only an opportunity to meet with you and/or your colleagues to discuss any opportunities you may have and how I could be an asset to your program, in any way possible. I can promise that there is no one that works harder and is more dedicated to the team concept that I am. I have a passion for the game and continue to be a student of the game.
