First off, I would like to thank you for viewing my profile. As you have seen above, I am a high school junior student-athlete attending Uwharrie Charter Academy in Asheboro, NC. I transferred to UCA going into my sophomore year from Fayetteville Street Christian School. Athletics have always been a huge part of my life. I have played everything from softball to volleyball to soccer to golf, but basketball has always been the sport that I have striven to continuously better myself at. It has taught me many life lessons such as patience and integrity which will stay with me throughout the entirety of my life. Though basketball is an important part of my life, I have always held my academics to a very high standard. I believe that education should come before anything. That will ultimately be the deciding factor for me when choosing a college and/or university.
Another important part of my life is the value of helping others. My father has been a volunteer firefighter for 20 years. Because of his example, I took up interest in the fire service when I was young. I am currently a junior firefighter at our local fire department but have been attending meetings and training for 3 years. I have learned the standards held by all firefighters throughout my short time with this service. This work has taught me the importance of reliance of your teammates. If you cannot trust they are going to have your back when entering a fiery building, you should not be going in. A firefighter never enters that situation alone. I think that is a very important lesson that can be applied to many things but especially basketball- you do not enter the game alone but rather as a team. Your team should have your back through the wins and losses of the game, and of life. Although I do not see myself pursuing this career full-time, I would like to continue volunteering through this type of organization for many years to come.
Thank you again for viewing my profile and taking your time to read a little bit about me. Have a blessed day!
