Hi, and thanks for checking out my profile.
My name is Elizabeth (Lizzie) DeIngenis, and I play softball. I've been playing softball every year since I was 7 years old. I am from a small town in Rhode Island, and relocated with my family to the Charlotte, NC area in 2013.
In the Spring of 2014, I signed up to play rec ball in my new city. My rec coach was thinking of starting a travel team, and invited me to be a part of it. Since then, I've been playing softball almost 9 months of the year.
As a Freshman, I tried out for my school's softball team and made both JV and Varsity rosters. Everyday after school I pulled double-duty for JV and Varsity. I was either after school for both JV/V practices, practicing with JV and then traveling for the Varsity game, or playing JV and then swapping uniforms for Varsity. I continued with this routine my Sophomore year as well, because JV did not have a catcher.
As a Junior, I started solely on Varsity but held onto my deep affection for my JV girls. I frequently helped out with JV pratices, as well as loaned out my own equipment to those girls who didn't have gloves or bats. A lot of girls on the JV roster jokingly refer to me as "Mom".
I feel like I am a good candidate for any team because I am a team player. I have played on and guested for several travel teams in addition to my HS team, and have yet to be on a team where I have had a problem with any other player. I mesh well with my teammates and truly come to love all my teammates like my own family. I work well with and really care about my entire team.
I am high energy and supportive of my teammates. I am the player on the field trying to make the pitcher relax and laugh after a tense inning, or when a pitch isn't called her way. If I'm in the dugout, I'm always on the fence cheering for my teammates' batting. I am loud on the field, always talking to my teammates whether I'm behind the plate, playing third base, or elsewhere. If I get frustrated, it's due to my own perceived shortcomings - not my teammates'. I don't like letting down my team, but I don't want a negative attitude to affect our dugout so I keep it to myself and just focus on lifting my teammates up.
I believe in myself, but I know I can always do better and be better. I view coaching as constructive criticism and welcome any attempts to help me be a better version of myself. My favorite coaches are the ones who push me to be the best I can be.
Some things my coaches always say they like about me (aside from skill) is my drive and that I'm "coachable." I play hard and am not afraid to slide, get dirty, wear a pitch, etc. I've played through rain, snow, cold, heat, illnesses, broken bones, and sprains, early in the morning and late into the night. I like to play, and I want to play.
