I work hard everyday of my life. These areas include school, practice, pitching, lessons and life in general. I have so much more to prove and fight for than most girls. I truly realized softball and an education were most important to me at 13 years old. I was diagnosed with breast cancer and a rare disease called PASH. I had to stop playing ball long enough to have surgery, a mastectomy and chemo. During this time, I had plenty of time to really think about what mattered most to me. I knew it had always been my education, but the one thing my heart broke for, the one thing I was hungry for was to pick up that softball and hit the dirt. When someone tells you that you cannot possibly do something, you realize how much you love it. You realize what matters most. I came back bigger, better, stronger and more determined to show myself and everyone, I CAN do this. I found out I'm stronger than I ever thought. I'm dedicated to every practice, conditioning, pitching lesson, study, coaches and teachers. I keep my ears open to listen and my mouth shut to learn. I feel criticism is usually constructive and I'm getting it because someone who sees more, wants me to be better. I like to lead and positively bring out the best in those around me. I'm a volunteer. I'll help anyone who asks or just lend a hand where I think it's needed. I help coach line the fields, help keep books and stats, clean up after practice and games. I try to always smile. No matter the challenge, I just keep smiling. I never complain much, I've learned to deal with hard situations and push right on thru. I'm a cheerleader for my friends, classmates and team. I like to see those around me succeed and grow. We all benefit each other as a unit. My teammates success is also my success. I smile while I pitch, laugh while I play and just love being on the field. With every throw of that yellow ball, a little bit of my heart goes with it. It's a part of me I'm throwing. When that ball leaves my hand, it represents me. How I react to a hit, play or ugly pitch also represents me. I've learned to smile, work harder next pitch and figure out what I did wrong. Work thru it. I want to explore the field of medicine or veterinary med. I want to help people. I want to inspire them with my own story and teach them my motto, just keep smiling. I want to dedicate myself to an education while enjoying the thing I love most, softball. I think those 2 things combined with me, is a triple winning combination. I've learned that dreams keep you going, life is short so work hard and enjoy it while you have it. I know, any college who supports me in my dream for an education combined with my love of the game, can't possibly go wrong.
