Lily Thorpe '24 Recruiting Profile

I have been playing softball for almost nine years. My parents were big on sports in high school and played softball and baseball. My dad committed and played at UNC Pembroke as a pitcher. Due to my parents being huge on sports, it came naturally to me at first. I started playing softball in third grade at the YMCA and was a catcher, but I soon fell in love with pitching. I dream of playing in college and continuing to grow in this sport. I have learned while playing to be a team player and not accept failure. Sports are all about failure, and recognizing that is super important. I began to grow as a player when I started accepting that I would fail. I know if I want to succeed big, I must fail big along the way too.

My collegiate goal is to earn a degree from a university that offers an assortment of educational opportunities, hopefully while playing softball at a competitive level at a college in the North or Southeast. My interest lies in the science fields, and I currently enjoy chemistry and biology the most. I work two jobs, one being a sub maker at Jersey Mikes and the other as a Coach at Pro35 Sports. I enjoy working at Pro 35 because I interact with many kids. Interacting with so many kids allows me to impact and influence the Child's life and also allows me to take a step back and take in body language and its keys in a conversation. This allows me to be more aware of myself as I see how something I can say or do can affect someone, even if the person can hide it better due to age.
