Shayleigh Gulvas '20 Recruiting Profile

I have received the Allegheny Mountain League All-Star award for the past 3 years. My freshman year I received it for second base, and my sophomore and junior year, I received it for shortstop. I have been named 2nd team All-State for the past 2 years. I am 3-time Tri-County 1st infield. I was named Rookie of the Year in 2017. In 2018 and 2019, my high school team, Dubois Central Catholic, has won the district title. Since I was a freshman, we have made it to the state semifinals, quarterfinals, and this year we played in the State Championship at Penn State University and came in 2nd place.

Gulvas hit .474 (45-for-95) with 34 RBIs, 46 runs and 14 extra-base hits (11 doubles, 1 triple, 3 homers). She ranked third in the district in runs scored and doubles.

I am the leadoff batter (2019) and I recently hit a milestone as a junior. I just had my 100th hit against Brockway Rovers on May 7th of 2019. I scored 46 runs this year. That many runs made me 3rd in the district 9 and 6th in all 1A schools in Pennsylvania.

I have had a history of playing softball. I have been playing since I was 4 years old. In my years of playing, I have been on the DuBois All-Star team from ages 9-15. I made it on the team every year and started centerfield, second base, and shortstop within those years. You can look at more of my Cyclones information here:

I have been on two travel teams in my life: DuBois Xtreme and currently the Steel City Cyclones. I have played on the Cyclones for the past 2 years and we’ve been very successful in winning many tournaments. 

I am a hard worker, leader, and obedient. I love putting in work to become a better athlete and individual. I am able to keep up with my grades while being a 3-sport athlete for the past 3 years. I’ve kept a 4.0 GPA my whole middle and high school career as well.
