My name is Brooke Wise and I am currently a junior at Conneaut Area Senior High School. I started playing little league softball at 6 years old, but developed a real passion for softball at the age of 8. At that time, I started pitching lessons and joined my first travel team. I also played other sports in school, being basketball and volleyball, but made the decision at age 14 to devote my time and efforts exclusively towards softball. My passion for softball deepened as I started attending pitching lessons twice a week, batting instruction once a week, as well as a personal trainer once a week. I also participate in Tae Kwon Do lessons with my goal to become a black belt. That dedication has paid off and I have been fortunate to be vital member of the Steel Valley Storm travel softball team. This team dominated during the 2021 travel softball season, holding record of 53-3, winning 7 tournaments in Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Maryland. Our team also made it to the quarterfinals at the All Sanctioned World Series.
My biggest strengths are that I am extremely hard working and dedicated to the sport. I am always the first one on the field at all practices and games and the last to leave, seeking extra fielding, pitching, and hitting time. In addition to playing with my travel team and high school team, I seek as many sub opportunities as I can to grow in the sport. In addition to those strengths, I am competitive and maintain a level head in a game situation. I pitched a good majority of the games in our tournaments and many times had to face extra innings and ITB situations. When I am not pitching, I play shortstop. In high school, I made the varsity team freshman year. During my sophomore year I made first team all-conference, with my proudest moment being when I hit 3 home runs on the first pitch at 3 consecutive at bats.
In addition to softball, I wholeheartedly devote my time and energies to my studies. I am extremely goal-oriented and self-motivated and hold a 4.0 GPA and am ranked 4th out of 163 in my class. I believe that softball has taught me to work hard and strive for excellence in school. I also believe that these traits can be applied to all aspects of my life. My goal is to major in Criminal Justice, and ultimately attend the Secret Service Academy.
My goal is to continue playing the sport that I love after high school at a competitive level while in college. I believe that I am a team player and would be an asset, ready to be used in any aspect for the ultimate team goal. First and foremost, I love the sport and will work as hard as I can and devote the time and energy it takes to compete and assist the team. In addition to my primary position as a pitcher, I have played shortstop, 3rd, 2nd, and 1st base, as well as occasionally playing the outfield. Furthermore, I have a strong bat and feel as though I could contribute to the team in this area as well.
