Personal Statement

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

I started playing softball at age 10. I was introduced to pitching the same year and I fell in love with the position. Pitching was fun and I didn’t mind the extra practice it took to make me better. I am left handed, but pitch and bat right handed.

Softball has taught me to never give up, and to work hard to reach your goals. One of my recent goals was to make the Varsity team as a freshman. Being part of this team allowed me to grow as a player by fielding other positions when not in the circle. The experience was new and exciting and really got me thinking about what I needed to do to be a better all-around player.  The personal growth from being apart of this team gave me the courage to find what I was looking for to pursue my additional goals. I believe that you should never stop learning and should never limit yourself. I know I have a lot to learn over the next several years and I am willing to make those sacrifices to be the best player and team mate I can be.

Pitching is still my passion and I continue to work hard at it. My commitment now also includes learning other positions such as second base, short stop and first base.

I carry the same determination into the classroom. I am very organized and detail orientated, completing tasks on time is very important to me. I will continue to push myself in the classroom and on the field. It’s my goal to be the first person from my family to go to college and it’s my dream to play the sport my mom taught me to love in college.
