Alyssa Hughes Pit...Personal Statement
My main goal is to serve others and love others in a way that will positively impact their lives. I have been on three mission/service trips in the last four years, and it has been eye opening and rewarding at the same time to see how those less fortunate are able to rise up day to day, and how important it is to reach out to them with kindness and compassion.
I'm eager to use my opportunities as a softball player to enhance my impact on others, including my teammates. I love playing the game and have come to realize that in many ways softball is a capsule of life in general. Many things can be learned in softball that will benefit me in life off the field. I look forward to being the best that I can be on the softball field and in life, by setting goals and achieving them through hard work, determination, dedication, and loyalty. I want to be remembered not only by what I accomplish on the softball field but also how I have treated others through my actions and words. One of the things that I have specifically learned in softball is how resilience, believing in myself, and never giving up have helped me to overcome trials and be the best that I can be.

- Playing in PONY and USSSA tournaments. Team won championship in USSSA May Madness tournament and qualified for World Series. I was awarded game MVP medal on Saturday, 5/18. Awarded game MVP again on Sunday, 5/26. I pitched shutouts on Saturday, 5/18 and Saturday, 6/29. My team took 2nd place in USSSA 18B Eastern PA State Tournament on 7/14. We won semi final game that I pitched.

- I had a setback in March of 2012 with a fractured left wrist, which limited my participation to some degree. I was the only freshman on the team, which included two college freshman. It was a great learning experience.
